A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping two girls in Scotland

A man, Kristofer Johnstone, hailing from Kelloholm in Dumfriesshire, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the reprehensible acts of rape and abuse inflicted upon two young girls over 15 years, from 2003 to 2018. The 33-year-old perpetrator was found guilty following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. Johnstone’s despicable actions led to consecutive five-year prison terms for each girl he victimized.

High Court in Glasgow

The court learned that he targeted one girl in Glasgow’s Knightswood area and on the Isle of Bute, while the second girl suffered his assaults in the Maryhill area of Glasgow and Paisley, Renfrewshire. Sentencing was carried out via video link from prison, where Judge Alasdair MacFadyen addressed Johnstone, emphasizing the overwhelming and distressing evidence of his sexual abuse. The judge condemned Johnstone’s actions as motivated by his deviant sexual desires, noting the severity of his offenses against vulnerable children. Johnstone was placed on the sex offenders list indefinitely and prohibited from contacting his victims. His defense lawyer, Patricia Baillie, argued that he was a first-time offender and assessed as a medium risk for similar crimes in the future.
