Motorists Urged to Avoid M50 Due to Serious Crash, Southbound Lanes Closed

Motorists are being advised to avoid the M50 following a serious crash this afternoon, which has led to the closure of southbound lanes at Blanchardstown. Emergency services are currently at the scene, and delays are expected to last until at least 6 p.m. today.

The crash occurred between Junction 6 (Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 (Lucan), resulting in the closure of all southbound lanes. Gardaí confirmed that diversions are in place, and they are urging drivers to find alternative routes if possible.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) warned of significant delays, particularly for motorists approaching Dublin from the M1, M2, and M3 motorways. Drivers are being advised to seek alternative routes to avoid congestion in the area.

TII confirmed that the southbound lanes will remain closed until at least 6 p.m., with emergency services continuing to manage the scene. The incident has caused severe disruption to traffic, and the public is urged to stay clear of the area.

Authorities are working to clear the scene and restore traffic flow, but travelers are advised to stay updated on traffic reports and allow extra time for journeys.
