US AI Firm Anthropic to Create 200 Jobs in Dublin Amid European Expansion

US artificial intelligence company Anthropic has announced plans to expand its operations in Ireland, creating 200 new jobs over the next three years. The firm, which established its European headquarters in Dublin in 2024, will increase office space at a central Dublin location to accommodate the additional staff.

The new roles will span engineering, sales, finance, legal and compliance, and operations, raising Anthropic’s Irish workforce to nearly 300 employees. The move reflects strong enterprise demand across Europe, with the company reporting an 11-fold increase in EMEA revenue, driven by businesses adopting its AI system, Claude. Claude recently topped Ireland’s free iPhone app charts, underlining the growing popularity of the platform.

Daniela Amodei, president and co-founder of Anthropic, said the expansion highlights the demand for AI systems that are safe, reliable, and aligned with enterprise needs. She added that Dublin provides “exceptional talent” and is an ideal hub to support AI adoption across Europe.

Among the positions currently open are a staff software engineer role offering a salary of up to €355,000 and a sales development manager role with a salary of up to €225,000.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin welcomed the announcement, describing it as a strong endorsement of Ireland’s technology sector. He said Anthropic’s expansion demonstrates the country’s position as a global hub for AI innovation, supported by a highly skilled workforce, world-class research, and a pro-innovation policy environment.

The announcement comes amid wider scrutiny of AI technologies. Anthropic recently filed a lawsuit against the US government, challenging claims that the company poses a “supply chain risk.” The legal dispute followed a disagreement with the Pentagon over the use of the company’s AI tools in mass surveillance or fully autonomous weapons systems. Anthropic has insisted its technology should not be applied to such military applications.

Analysts say the Dublin expansion reflects both the rapid growth of AI adoption in Europe and the strategic importance of establishing a secure, trusted European base for AI operations. By increasing its workforce and office space, Anthropic aims to meet rising enterprise demand while reinforcing its commitment to ethical AI development.

The Dublin office will play a central role in supporting enterprise customers across Europe and the Middle East, with the new positions designed to strengthen the company’s engineering capabilities, customer engagement, and regulatory compliance functions.

With the addition of 200 jobs, Anthropic joins a growing number of US AI companies investing in Ireland, leveraging the country’s talent pool and regulatory environment to serve European markets. The expansion underscores Dublin’s continued appeal as a centre for AI innovation and international technology investment.
