One Dublin Ticket Wins €8.7 Million Lotto Jackpot as Over 100,000 Players Claim Prizes

One ticket-holder in Dublin has become the latest multimillionaire after winning last night’s €8.7 million Lotto jackpot, in a draw that saw tens of thousands of players across Ireland collect smaller prizes.

The winning ticket was sold in the capital, with National Lottery officials confirming that just one entry matched all six main numbers. The player has yet to come forward and is being urged to make contact with the National Lottery Claims Department on 1800 666 222 to begin the process of claiming the prize.

The winning numbers drawn were 1, 7, 27, 28, 34 and 42, with the bonus ball coming in at 26. The result capped a draw that attracted widespread participation, with over 101,000 players winning prizes across the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.

While the jackpot was claimed by a single ticket, thousands of others across the country secured smaller wins ranging from modest cash prizes to secondary draw payouts.

The National Lottery confirmed that the Dublin sale is now being verified, as is standard procedure in major jackpot wins. Retailer details have not yet been publicly disclosed, pending confirmation from the winner.

The latest win follows a string of significant Lotto payouts in recent months. In February, a €11 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in a shop in County Mayo, highlighting continued strong participation in the national draw.

Lottery officials say jackpot wins of this scale remain relatively rare, but interest in the game continues to remain high, particularly during periods when prize funds roll over and accumulate over consecutive draws.

For many players, even small wins contribute to the draw’s popularity, with more than 100,000 people collecting prizes in last night’s event alone.

The National Lottery has reminded players to check their tickets carefully and to keep them safe, as unclaimed prizes can only be collected within a set timeframe. Winners are also encouraged to sign the back of their tickets immediately to establish ownership.

As attention now turns to the identity of the Dublin winner, anticipation is building around one of Ireland’s newest multimillionaires. For now, officials say the priority is ensuring the claimant comes forward safely to secure their life-changing prize.
